Industrial Research Summer Internship
For GTFs interested in research careers in industry or in entrepreneurship pathways, two optional experiences will be made available during the IGERT program. For GTFs interested in industrial careers and elect out of the international academic internship opportunity, an industrial research summer internship will be required during Summer following second year of IGERT support. A database of internship opportunities in the field of biomaterials will be provided to the trainees in partnership with the Center for Biomaterials. The Center for Biomaterials' Industrial Membership Program encompasses more than 20 technology firms in biomaterials and medical-device related fields. Among these companies, there is strong interest in supporting promising graduate students in summer internships. Current industrial members include startup companies (Advanced Materials Design, BioCure, Hydro Med Sciences, Polymerix, REVA Medical, VectraMed, and Vyteris); midsized companies (Enzon, Integra LifeSciences, LifeCell and Osteotech); major multinational companies(Avon Products, Boston Scientific, Cordis - a Johnson & Johnson Company, Dupont Central Research, STRATEC Medical, and Medtronic); a corporate research center (Center for Biomaterials and Advanced Technologies, Medical Products Group, a division of Ethicon, Inc.); production companies (Corium and The MedTech Group), a law firm (Norris, McLaughlin & Marcus) and a venture capital firm (The Vertical Group). Ms. Carole Kantor of the CBM will serve as the coordinator for industrial internships.
